Angela's Ashes : The Musical

I was commissioned by The Irish Examiner to go behind the scenes of the new musical of Frank McCourts masterpiece "Angela's Ashes'. This project involved attending a rehearsal at a Dublin studio. I photographed some of the show as well as some backstage action and some Editioral photographs of Director Thom Sutherland and lead Jacinta Whyte who plays Angela - My Images were used on the front page of the Irish Examiner Weekend Magizine as well as appearing on the three page lead story inside.

I used one Camera to photograph this project - A Nikon D3 . The lenses i used were A Nikor 24-70mm 1;2.8G ED Lens and and my Nikkor 80-200mm 1:2.8 D - All the photographs were taken using available light

I have chosen a selection of images from the shoot as well as copy of waht wes used in print for this Gallery .


 

NovaAtria North (BlockA) Fitout

I was commissioned byBlackstone to photograph the fitout on NovaAtria North (Block A). The orginal Building was developed and built in 2001. It was sold in 2014 to Blackstone. The fitout Project which started in late 2016 was mainly concentrated on the ground floor common areas - Reception area and the second floor office space.

I used one Camera to photograph this project - A Nikon D800 . The lenses i used were A Nikon N PC-E Nikkor 24mm 1:3.5D ED, A Nikon PC Micro Nikkor 85mm 1:2.8 D and A Nikon ED AF-SNikkor 17-35mm 1:2.8D

51st Street Dublin Airport

I was commissioned to Photograph the latest fitout project at Terminal 2 Dublin Airport.

51st&Green is an exciting new lounge concept by Dublin Airport for passengers travelling to the United States.Located after US Preclearance in Terminal 2 and beside the US departure gates, it is a 'world's first' as it is the closest airport lounge to an active runway.  It is located at ramp level and the design maximizes the natural light and the views of the runway activity. The layout of the lounge is inspired by Newgrange and the 32m entrance corridor slopes into a bright open space acting as a decompression zone and enabling customers to instantly relax on arrival.

I used three cameras to photograph this project - A Nikon D800 - A Nikon D3 and a Nikon D7100 . The lenses i used were my AT-S Nikkor 17-35mm 1:2.8D, A AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm 1:2.8G, A PC Micro Nikkor 85mm 1:2.8 D, A Nikon AF Micro Nikkor 105mm 1:2.8D, and my Nikon ED Nikkor 80-200mm 1:2.8 D

Dorans on the Pier

I was commissioned recently to do a series of Landscape and Lifestyle images around Howth harbour along with some sea food dishes been prepared, cooked and served . All the food images were shot on location in "The Oar House Restaurant" and the produce was supplied by "Dorans on the Pier" - both located on the west pier Howth harbour. To date the images have been used for editorial and TV.

I used three cameras to photograph this project - A Nikon D800 - A Nikon D3 and a Nikon D7100 . The lenses i used were my Sigma DC 18-50mm 1:2.8 EX Macro HSM, A Nikon AF Micro Nikkor 105mm 1:2.8D, and my Nikon ED Nikkor 80-200mm 1:2.8 D

I have chosen 33 images and some tear sheets published for this Gallery .


   

DCC HQ Dublin

I was commissioned by construction company Townlink and International office Furniture manufacturers Bene PLC to photograph the new and completely referbished corporate headquarters for DCC PLC located in South County Dublin on the grounds of Leopardstown racecourse. The Assigment brief was to photograph a series of exterior photos of the referbished building as well as interior images of the new fit-out.

I used two cameras to photograph this project - A Nikon D3 and a Nikon D7100 . The lenses i used were Nikkor 12-24mm 1:4 G ED , A Sigma DC 18-50mm 1:2.8 EX Macro HSM, A Nikon AF Micro Nikkor 105mm 1:2.8D, and A Nikon ED Nikkor 80-200mm 1:2.8 D .


 

Aer Lingus Boeing 757-200 Fleet

I was commissioned to photograph the latest 3 Aircraft to join the Aer Lingus Fleet . EI-LBR, EI-LBS and EI-LBT are Boeing 757-200's which have been Wet Leased in from Air Contractors (ASL Aviation Group Ltd) to fly The Shannon Boston Route, Shannon New York Route and The Dublin Toronto Route. The Aircraft have a seating capacity of 177 broken up into 12 Business Class and 165 Economy Class.The Photographs were taken over two days at Shannon Airport.

I used three cameras to photograph this project - A Nikon D2x - A Nikon D3 and a Nikon D7100 . The lenses i used were Nikkor 12-24mm 1:4 G ED , A Sigma DC 18-50mm 1:2.8 EX Macro HSM, A Nikon AF Micro Nikkor 105mm 1:2.8D, A Nikon ED Nikkor 80-200mm 1:2.8 D and A Nikon AF VR-Nikkor 80-400mm 1:45-5.6D.

NIAH Architectural Heritage of County Cavan

I was commissioned by The Department of Arts Heritage and the Gaeltacht to provide Photographic images for the Book "An Introduction to the Architectural Heritage of County Cavan". The Project was photographed over 3 months November, December 2012 and January 2013 and involved Photographing 120 Listed Buildings and Monuments in County Cavan. As part of the commision i had to travel around the County and locate the sites to be Photographed - to help me i had the use of the 49 - 6inch to 1 mile Ordnance Survey collection  of plans that cover the county of Cavan - These were last Published in the late 1950's so there had been many changes on the ground but i still could not have done without them . 

I Used one Camera to shoot this Project - A Nikon D2x - The lenses i used were a Nikon AF-S Nikkor 12-24mm 1:4 G ED -A SIGMA DC 18-50mm 1:2.8 EX MACRO HSM- A Nikon AF Micro Nikkor 105mm 1:2.8 D and A Nikon AF VR- Nikkor 80-400mm 1:4.5-5.6D. All of the images were shot as Camera raw Format. From the 520 Photographs i submitted for this Commision I have chosen a selection of 49 images to upload to accompany this post.

The Books ISBN code is 978-1-4064-2749-3 and is on the shelves from December 2013.

 

Number One Central Park

I was recently commissioned by Henry J Lyons Architects  and Construction Company  G+T Crampton to Photograph there landmark Development "Number one Central Park" . This Project is situated in Leopardstown in South County Dublin just off the M50 Motorway.This is a category A Headquater Office Building comprising of 8 Floors. It was Designed with excellent environmental efficiencies and a rich Architectural Quality

I Used one Camera to shoot this Project - A Nikon D2x - The lenses i used were a Nikon AF-S Nikkor 12-24mm 1:4 G ED and a SIGMA DC 18-50mm 1:2.8 EX MACRO HSM. All of the images were shot as Camera raw Format. I have chosen a selection of 15 images to upload to accompany this post.

   

Dublin Poc Fada Competion 2013

The final of the Dublin Poc Fada competition took place recently on a 3km course from the South of the Hill in Howth to end at the Beann Eadair GAA club.

The meaning of "Poc Fada" in English is "The long Poc" or "The long hit" and it originates in the Irish Legend of "Tain Bo Cuailgne" when Cuchulainn,as the boy Setanta set out from his home to the Kings Court at Emain Macha, hitting his Sliotar(Ball) before him and running ahead to catch it.and Brochure Design.

The GAA County Board engaged me to Photograph the Event with the Bref - Take a selection of Images of the Compeitors in Action incorporating the Landscape and Terrain of the East and West Mountain of Howth Hill. These images were to be used for Press,PR and Social Media about the event and to showcase the area for future Competitions.

I Used two Cameras to shoot the Project - A Nikon D2x and a Nikon D3 - The lenses i used were a Nikon ED AF Nikkor 80-200mm 2.8 D and a Nilon AF Nikkor 24-120mm 1:3.5-5.6 D. Most of the images were shot as Jpegs with some in Camera raw Format. I have chosen a selection of 24 images to upload to accompany this post.

 

Wood Fired Pizza Project

I have just finished a Commission where i was asked to produce a series of images for a Restaurant which specializes in producing fresh homemade Pizza's. My Brief included incorporating the Woodstone Wood Fired Oven (which cooks the Pizza's at Temperatures of over 350oC) into some of the images as well as the fresh dough, made from Caputo Italian flour, and all the fresh ingredients that go into making of the toppings. The whole project was shot on Location in the Restaurant in 5 hours. All the Images were shot on two cameras - A Nikon D3 and A Nikon D200 - I used a selection of lenses including a Nikon ED AF NIKKOR 80-200 mm 1:2.8 and my Sigma DC HSM 30mm 1:1.4D . All of the the Food Photography was shot using A Nikkor Micro AF 105mm 1:2.8 D. I used two Nikon Speedlight SB-910 Flash units to light the Images. All the Photographs were shot in Camera Raw Format.  The final selection of images will be used for Social Media ,Press & Editorial uses and for Menu and Brochure Design.

   

Terminal 2 Dublin Airport

I have been working on a Commission to photograph Terminal 2 Dublin Airport -This Project involved a lot of Night Photography with very long exposures ranging from 6 seconds to 30 seconds. All of the images for this Project were shot on my Trusty Nikon D2X and i used a Nikkor 12-24 mm ED and a Sigma DC 18-50 mm 2.8 EX Macro to shoot all the Photographs. All the Digital Files were shot in Camera Raw. For my first "Latest News story" of 2013  i have uploaded a selection of My Architectural Photographs taken for the Project.

 

New Build School Projects

Over the last couple of months i have been working on a Commission to photograph some new Build and Extensions to some of the schools in Dublin and surrounding Counties - i have uploaded a selection of images taken.

   

EI-REP Transformation

EI-REP was the last of the Aer Arann ATR 72-500 fleet to retain the Triskels (Celtic Rings) Livery. When it went into the Paint shop I photographed this Aircraft as it changed visually to the Aer Lingus Regional Livery. I have uploaded a selection of the images  i took of this transformation.

 

Irish Walled Towns

I was commissioned by The Heritage Council of Ireland to take the Photography for there publication Irish Walled Towns. The Project Involved travelling to twenty Walled Towns (Members of Irish Walled Towns Network) located in both the North and South of Ireland and to produce a series of images of each Walled Town, many of which had Architecture dating back to the 11th+12th Century. Because of the print schedule i had to complete the Photography in five weeks including all post production. In all over 800 images were submitted and 120 were chosen for the final book project. The main problem with the commission was the weather - alot of overcast and wet conditions. There were also problems with modern infrastructure, Development as well as sheer neglect. I am posting a random selection of images from the original 800+ submitted . The Book is published by The Liffey Press on behalf of The Heritage Council.

   

Bloom Inspiring Gardens

 I was delighted to be asked to  contribute to a new Book Bloom Inspiring Gardens . The Book was put together by Gary Graham and Ciaran Flanagan and is a collection of images from the first five years of Bloom which is a five day showcase for Irelands Ornamental and Amenity Horticulture Sectors; Nursery Stock production,Garden Design and Construction. The show Happens once a year and is Held in Dublins Phoenix Park Dublin. 

 

Olympic Torch Dublin

 On Wednesday the 6th of June 2012 Dublin became the only Country outside of Greece and the UK to Host the Olympic Flame. President Michael D Higgins was there to Greet the first Bearer.

   

Woodhouse

Woodhouse PLC(www.woodhouse.co.uk) A company producing Street Furniture-Street Lighting and Signage commissioned me to photograph some of there Irish Projects. Most of the Images were used for Marketing Web and Editorial use.    

 

Architectural Projects 2011

John and David from TBW have commissioned me to take some interior/exterior images of a couple of there shops. The images are to be used for Media,Advertising and Marketing. 

 

Emerald Freight

I was commissioned by Logistics Company Emerald Freight to shot a series of images featuring there new livery photographed using some well known Dublin Landmarks as Backgrounds - The images are to be used for Advertising and Marketing

Aviation 2011

As Part of my Photographic Work in the Aviation Industry i am regularly on assignment for both Aer Arann Regional and Aer Lingus as well as  supplying work to The Department of Transport and Irish Aviation Authority. My Images are also regularly requsted for use with National and International Press and Editorial.  

   

Dublin Docks

Over a period of a Year between 1987 & 1988 i Photographed Dublin Docklands -The Project was shot on 35mm  B+W film and Most of the Images were taken before the Massive regeneration of the Area under taken firstly by The Custom House Docks Development Authority and continued by The Dockland Development Authorithy. I have uploaded a selection of the images shot.

 

Asian Food

As part of an Editorial Project i undertook recently i had to Photograph some Asian Cuisine.I have uploaded some of the Food images which were shot on Location in the restaurant Kitchen.

   

The O2 Club Dublin

My Friends at Live Nation asked me to go in a take a series of interior photographs of both the Premium and the Audi VIP Clubs at the O2 in Dublin - these images were used for Editorial and Marketing of the Venue.

 

Christina Brosnan

Irish Jewellery designer Christina Brosnan recently commissioned me to Photograph her collection for catalogue and Web use. All of the project was shot on site in Christina's workshop.Her collection consisted of over 60 different pieces.

   

Sean Treacy House

Sean Treacy House is the newest of Dublin City Councils Social Housing Developments - It is situated on Buckingham Street in the North Inner City. The project involved the demolition of existing 1960's blocks of Flats and replaced with 52 units in a new mixed Housing development comprising of own Door Houses,Duplexes and Appartments- I was commissioned to shot some Architectural Photographs of the new development before the project was officially handed over -

 

Bloom 2011

June Bank Holiday had me working at Bloom 2011 at the Phoenix Park. With over 90,000 visitors over the 5 Day Event. I was asked to photograph the event with the images to be used for Press ,PR ,Advertising as well as Web and Marketing use

   

Dublin Bay 5.1 Project

While working with RPS Consulting Engineers on the Dublin Bay 5.1 Project - I was asked to do a full Photographic Dilapidation Survey on the old waste treatment tanks that were excavated on the site of the old Techrete Factory. The Tanks were constructed in 1906 and were responsible for storage and distribution of all waste sewage from the Howth area.

 

Aer Arann Regional

I recently undertook a commission on behalf of Aer Arann Regional and Cosmonaut Design to produce as photographic image for a poster to celebrate Aer Lingus' 75th Birthday. The image is of three ATR 72.500 Aricraft taken at 5.30am on there remote stands at Dublin Airport. Aer Arann Regional operates the Aer Lingus Regional franchise.
